Beverley Knight makes TV acting debut in new ITV series The Halcyon

Beverley Knight has made her TV acting debut in a new series for ITV set in a classy London hotel during the Blitz.

The singer, originally from Wolverhampton, made a special guest appearance in new show, The Halcyon.

She performs as singer Ruby at the historic Café De Paris in London in the show which tells the story of a glamorous five star hotel, The Halcyon, at the centre of London society and a world at war.

The drama, set in 1940, shows London life through the war and the impact it has on families, politics, relationships and work – set to a soundtrack of the music of the era.

The eight-part drama was first aired on January 2 at 9pm on ITV. Knight's appearance took place during the second episode which was aired yesterday.

Knight is currently playing the lead role in the West End musical The Bodyguard. Tweeting about appearing in the show, Knight said: "I am beyond chuffed!"
