The father-of-one from Brownhills has been snapped up for a date at Wednesbury Town Hall next month before he 'signs a massive contract'.

The 31-year-old persuaded all of the judges to turn their chairs around on the ITV talent show to progress to the next round.

Today the singer admitted that if he continues to progress in the show he may have to give up the post at the RAC Call Centre on the M6 at Wednesbury. Jason said the reaction since his performance on Saturday night had been 'overwhelming'.

Councillor Elaine Costigan confirmed Jason had been booked to play at the town hall on February 16 and said: "Before he signs a massive contract, we wanted to get him booked in. We are absolutely thrilled he is coming to Wednesbury."

Friends and family watch on

Jason said: "It's gone mad – but it's been brilliant. I've had hundreds of messages and friend requests. My dream has come true, it's unreal. I love my job but if this keeps going well I might have to hand my notice in to keep doing it."

Jason, who has a five-month-old son Jax with partner Collette, has been gigging for around three years. He watched Saturday's show in The Park Gate pub in Cannock Wood alongside friends and family. Pub manager Lisa Baker said everyone who knew Mr Jones was delighted for him. She said: "It was a brilliant night and we're all rooting for him. He's done a few gigs here and been brilliant."

His version of Pillow Talk by Zayn wowed judges Tom Jones, Jennifer Hudson, Will.I.Am and Gavin Rossdale. He plumped for the tutelage of Black Eyed Peas singer and producer Will.

It's third time lucky for Jason who failed to get past the audition stage two years ago, then overslept last year and missed his slot.

"I think it's meant to be," he said. "With the show moving to ITV from BBC there's been a lot of hype and build up and personally I think it's better."

We can next expect to see Jason on our TV sets next month when the show reaches its 'battle' stage where contestants have a one-on-one sing-off.
