Around 30 students at City of Wolverhampton College are putting on the show entitled It's Christmas.

The Level 2, Level 3 and HND Performing Arts students will be putting on the production at the Paget Road Campus on Wednesday and Thursday.

The variety show includes songs, dances and sketches all about the fun and sadness of the festive period.

Lecturer Tanya Long said: "This showcase is packed full of Christmas fun and crimbo madness.

"The students have all worked incredibly hard and had a lot of fun putting together an exciting and fun-packed night of entertainment."

The Performing Arts Diploma Level 2 and Level 3 are one-year courses. The Level 2, equivalent to four GCSEs, is a foundation for students who wish to pursue a career in performing arts.

The Level 3 is equivalent to three A Levels.

The courses is accredited by the University of the Arts London Awarding Body.

The City of Wolverhampton College is the only college in the Black Country to be accredited from University of Arts London.

It brings to an end a successful year for the college.

Last month, the college's journalism course was named the best in the country, for a sixth year running.

The college was named as the top further education provider of the National Council for the Training of Journalists (NCTJ) diploma at the annual Journalism Skills Conference.

Awards host BBC deputy political editor, John Pienaar, added: "It's no mean feat to achieve and maintain accreditation as the NCTJ industry standard evolves in response to a rapidly changing industry."

And this month a training scheme to help students and older people improve their skills was introduced.

The Apprenticeship Hub was unveiled at the Paget Road Campus.

Doors open at 7pm for a 7.30pm starts. Tickets, costing £4 each, are available on the door.

The college is also currently auditioning for next year's performing arts courses. For more information ring 01902 834273 or apply online at www.wolvcoll.ac.uk
