It's almost time to party on the streets of old Peking as the Eastgate Street theatre gears up for one of its busiest weeks of the year ahead of the first performance of Aladdin.

The wok'n'roll panto will open with a dedicated schools performance tonight and the first evening public performance will take place at 7pm tomorrow. Tickets have proved extremely popular since going on sale with a number of performances having limited availability left.

Producer of the show, Derrick Gask, said: "All the team have been hard at work over the last few weeks and months making sure this year's show lives up to the efforts of previous years.

"Rehearsals have been going very well, and it's a magic moment when you see the cast transfer from the rehearsal room to the stage. We really cannot wait for our audiences to see the show now.

"But make sure you get your ticket soon, as performances are selling out fast…" concluded Gask.

Aladdin – the Wok'n'roll panto will run until January 8.

The county town venue is one of just five theatres in the country to produce a rock panto, with all music played live on stage by a cast of multi-talented actor musicians.

This year's dazzling production features songs from Aretha Franklin, The Monkees, James Brown, The Temptations, The Jackson Five, and many more.

Tickets can be booked by calling the box office on 01785 619080 or by visiting www.staffordgatehousetheatre.co.uk.

Santa in Love will also be on at the Gatehouse from December 21st to the 24th. Tickets cost £9 each. The opening day's performances on the Wednesday will be at 1.30pm and 3.30pm. The following day they will be 10.30 and 1pm. The Friday will have shows at 11.30 and 3pm. Then they'll be at 11.30 and 3pm on the Saturday.
