He headed to Haden Hill Museum, in Sandwell, as part of a link up with Cradley Heath Creative.

The two have worked on several projects over the year including the grotto.

The creative group has also helped to set up a special tree outside the museum upon which messages to dead loved ones can be left.

People of all ages gathered at the museum to write their personal heartfelt messages to those that who will be missed during the festive season.

Alison Hyatt, visitor services officer for the museum, said: "Cradley Heath Creative hung 30 messages on the mulberry tree which sits right in front of the museum.

"It looks absolutely lovely and it's something very different to what we've been involved with before.

"It's something different for our visitors to enjoy. I saw a lady with her dog stop to explore the tree.

"We seem to be getting the same reaction from a lot of our visitors. I'm sure it's an unusual thing to come across but also something that's lovely to read.

"The messages are all unique but most of them are wishing merry Christmas to people that are sadly no longer with us during this favourite time of year."

Visitors can look at the tree located in Haden Hill park until the end of December.

Santa will be stopping off in the grotto to meet children for one last time on Sunday.
