Crowd-funding page set up for Wolverhampton's Light House

A crowd-funding page has been set up for Wolverhampton's Light House in the hope it will raise enough money for some new light-up signs.

The page has already raised £1,335 of its £10,000 target since it was set up last week.

The aim of the page is to get enough money to put an light-up sign on the the external walls of the cinema building saying 'Light House Cinema & Café/Bar' to let people know where and what it is.

Posting on the crowd-funding page, Chief executive of The Light House, Kelly Jeffs, said: "One of the biggest questions we get asked by customers, stakeholders, partners and new visitors is 'Why isn't there a sign on your building?' Sadly, it's an issue we have had to keep putting on the back burner due to constant financial challenges especially more so recently in light of the austerity measures that us and many other arts organisations across the UK have had to endure.

"It seems such a simple thing. A sign on a building to let everyone around know you exist. We are lucky that thousands of people already know we exist, but sadly there are thousands more that don't and our experience and instincts tell us that clear, illuminated, exciting signs would increase our audience and visitor awareness significantly and in a short space of time. "

The appeal will run until 2pm on January 6 and so far 34 people have donated.

Kelly Jeffs added: "All money raised will go directly to the signage appeal. "Enhancing the external walls of the cinema building will ensure the Light House's continued development and sustainability and keep Wolverhampton City a vibrant place to live, work and play.

"As the building faces the busiest roads in and out of the city, the signage will be seen by literally thousands of drivers and bus passengers as well as the 100's of commuters who pass through to the train station every single day."
