Christmas is a time when the am dram community really comes into its own as far as supporting those less fortunate is concerned and what better way to raise funds for charities than putting our performing skills to good use? The Christmas spirit really is amongst us which is wonderful to see.

Numerous groups across the region are producing concerts and events, as well as carol singing for money to donate to their chosen charities. One such group is the newly formed Canon Productions, who on December 9 will present Feed the World, their very own take on the well known 1980's Christmas classic, raising money for Wolverhampton food bank, The Well. Taking place at New Invention Victory Club, the guys will also be holding a food drive, so if you would like to, you can also donate non perishable goods on the night.

There's a host of festive favourites including White Christmas, The Power of Love, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas and Santa Baby to name but a few, as well as the theme from the current John Lewis advertisement, Some Day I'll Fly Away.

For tickets priced at £10 each, which includes a fish and chip supper, call Kate on 07841 463651 or visit www.seaty.co.uk/feedtheworld

Over in Brierley Hill at the Civic Hall, you can catch a Christmas concert on December 14, courtesy of The Ellenvale Singers, who are joined by the Sovereign Brass Band and the choir of Robert Street Primary School.

The singers are supporting two charities; High Flyers from Wombourne and Lottie Millward, a seven year old who has brittle bone disease and underwent pioneering surgery last year to insert rods into her spine, poor little mite.

High Flyers provide onsite activities for adults with mental and learning disabilities, taking them on holidays and day trips to do outdoor pursuits. Very popular in the Wombourne area, the group has a waiting list to join and is run by a self-sufficient staff who work over and beyond to ensure the organisation's success.

The Ellenvale Singers have been together for 40 years and enjoy donating money to local, worthy causes. Spokesperson for the singers, Val Lloyd said, "If you have anyone you feel may benefit from a donation, then please put them forward. We could consider them for a donation from our May 2017 concert."

Well done Ellenvale Singers; I hope you get the support you deserve.

For tickets, priced at just £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for children, email lloydvalerie76@yahoo.com or visit www.ellenvalesingers.org

Christmas has also arrived over at the Wombourne and District Choral Society, as they present "It's Christmas Time!" their festive offering on December 16 at St. Chad's Church in Brewood.

Under the musical direction of Ian Clarke, this mixed choir of 80 singers will present a varied repertoire of classical works and Christmas tunes.

For tickets priced at £10 each for adults, with under 16 year olds free of charge, call 01902 744447 or simply buy on the door on the night.

This choir is also seeking new members, so if you are interested in joining them, why not pop along and see them in action for yourself. Then email their membership secretary, Carol Dixon at cagsdixon@gmailcom for further details.

The Wulfruna Ladies Choir and City of Wolverhampton Brass Band are holding a 'Family Night of Christmas Carols Christmas' at Low Hill Hub, Wolverhampton on December 9, starting at 7pm.

There's an evening of Christmas music over at Stourbridge Town Hall on December 3, presented by Tinkers Farm Opera, entitled A Night of Miracles.

Composed by John W Peterson in the late 1950's, this is a wonderfully warm choral piece, which has become a favourite amongst amateur performers all over the world.

A celebration of all things festive, audiences can also look forward to some old favourites, some new compositions and plenty of participation to get you in the Christmas spirit!

There is nothing like a good old ghost story at Christmas time and if it happens to be an amusing comedy too, all the better! Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit fits the bill perfectly and you can catch a production of this classic work at the Crescent Theatre in Birmingham from December 7-10, presented by the Birmingham School of Acting.

The highly successful author, Charles Condomine invites the eccentric medium, Madame Arcarti, to his home in order to learn more about the supernatural for his next novel, but is ill prepared for the havoc that is unleashed when his first wife returns from the dead to haunt him!

Despite the rather macabre subject matter, Blithe Spirit is one of Coward's very best!

We mustn't forget the little ones at Christmas of course, so Cannock Wood and Gentleshaw Musical Society is presenting The Wind in the Willows (At Christmas) written by Joanna Woodberry and inspired by Kenneth Grahame's lovely story, from December 7-10 at
