All have visited and enjoyed the sights and designs during The Clothes Show at the NEC, in Birmingham, which turns 28 next month.

But the event will also have even more added significance as it also marks the 30th anniversary of the brand, which started life as a Sunday night television show on BBC.

The show will sign off to the Midland masses too when it stages its final event in the city, from December 2 to 6, before relocating to its new home in Liverpool next year.

The official new name will be the British Style Collective, presented by The Clothes Show.

Caryn Franklin MBE ran The Clothes Show for 12 years, from 1986 to 1998.

She said: "When I began presenting the BBC's Clothes Show as Fashion Editor of i-D Magazine back in 1986, I had no idea it would have such a far reaching effect and long-term impact on public perception of the fashion industry.

"Our approach to showcasing high-end designer fashion alongside artisan and high street product, together with personal and homemade creativity to celebrate all body types, ages and tastes, caught the imagination of the nation and beyond."

Among the now-famous models who were first found at the show were Erin O'Connor, Oliver Cheshire, Sami Rollinson and Rosie Tapner.

And for some now household names, the Clothes Show Live is where it all began.

O'Connor was on a school trip from Brownhills Community School when she was scouted during a visit in 1995.

Since then, the Brownhills star has gone on to become a supermodel and has walked the catwalk for the likes of John Galliano, Christian Dior and Donna Karan.

A 24-year-old Holly Willoughby was also spotted by model scouts at the show and has gone on to carve out her hugely successful presenting career.

So too has Cat Deeley after The Great Barr schoolgirl was discovered in 1990, aged just 14.

Modelling opened the door to presenting and she has gone on to become a well-known face on British and US television screens.

Likewise, Vernon Kay travelled down to the show from Bolton in 1998 and was signed up by a model agency.

Further presenters who have been spotted at he show before going on to forge highly successful careers include Dermot O'Leary, Louise Redknapp, Gok Wan and Fearne Cotton.

Music acts, dancers and models have also taken to the stage to entertain the crowds.

Popstars including The Saturdays, The Wanted, The Spice Girls, JLS, Blue, The Sugababes, Alesha Dixon and the late Amy Winehouse have performed at the show.

This year's confirmed celebrities include Peter Andre, TOWIE's Amy Childs and Made in Chelsea stars Oliver Proudlock, Jamie Laing and Caggie Dunlop. The event is also recognising and celebrating the talent of young people within the music industry this year.

The Clothes Show is searching to find a male and female artiste who will become the headline acts in the iconic Alcatel Fashion Theatre, in association with Capital FM.

The hit programme was first produced by Pebble Mill Studios in Edgbaston.

It was originally broadcast as a way of bringing high fashion into the homes of the general public.

Viewing figures rose throughout the 80s and 90s, peaking to nine million on the Sunday night. It was then decided to run a live annual show and the decision was made to launch it in Birmingham. The show has become a huge success, compared to London Fashion Show, drawing more than 100,000 visitors every December.

Over the years, it has charted the changing face of British fashion.

Visitors to the five-day event have seen a range of flamboyant outfits make their way down the catwalk, including oversized hats, fur coats and rara skirts.

A £2,500 Ben De Lisi dress was also worn and paraded by actress and former wife of Liam Gallagher, Patsy Kensit, in 2000.
