Roy Wood to play Bilston

Roy Wood is to rock'n' roll up to the Robin 2 in Bilston next month to perform his classic hits including I Wish It Could Be Christmas Every Day.

Singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Wood shot to fame in the 1960s and 1970s as member and co-founder of the Move, Electric Light Orchestra and Wizzard.

Now he and his band are to perform at the Robin 2, Mount Pleasant, on December 8 from 7.30pm.

Wood and his band will perform other well-known hits such as I Can Hear The Grass Grow, Flowers In The Rain, Blackberry Way, California Man and See My Baby Jive.

Wood has previously been described as being responsible for some of the most memorable sounds of the 1970s and credited as playing a major role in the glam rock, psychedelic and prog rock movements.

In 2008, the musician was awarded an honorary doctorate for his contribution to rock and pop by the University of Derby.

In 2015, his long and eclectic career was recognised with the Outer Limits award at the Progressive Music Awards in London.
