Cannock drama group celebrate 10th anniversary with World War One event

Published

A drama group is putting on a special play set during the First World War to mark its 10th anniversary.

The Tunnellers, written by Tower Players member Tom Allsopp, tells the story of soldiers mining under German lines on the Western Front to try to break the deadlock.

There is a parallel story of the women left at home who have to work in the factories. Peter Sidgwick, group chairman, said: "We are really excited about it, especially because it is our 10th anniversary.

This is the third First World War play we have done and it is good to tie it in with the 100th anniversary celebrations." The play is on at Cannock's Prince of Wales Centre on November 30, December 1 and December 2 at 7.30pm.

The play is not suitable to youngsters under the age of 14. Tickets are £12 and can be booked via 01543 578762 or the box office at www.boxoffice.wlct.org
