From roulette tables to £20,000 jackpot machines, Casino 36 in Temple Street will cater for a variety of gambling tastes and includes a champagne bar for celebrating a big win.

Many of these have been filled by previously unemployed people, with Wolverhampton council and Job Centre Plus helping source staff.

Adrian Ballard, the casino's owner, said working with the council has benefited the business.

He added: "Regeneration in Wolverhampton is steaming ahead and we are delighted to be playing a part in helping rejuvenate the city centre."

The casino project can be traced back to May 2008 when parliament gave eight councils across the country the right to grant a premises licence for a casino under the Gambling Act 2005.

Casino 36 was granted the new licence in June 2014 and under the terms of the licence Casino 36 will contribute £36,000 towards counselling programmes for problem gamblers and their families.

The £7.6 million project has seen The Rubicon Casino in Temple Street expand into the empty neighbouring building.

Councillor John Reynolds, Cabinet Member for City Economy, said it would kick-start regeneration on the city centre's Southside and prove a real asset.
