Bonfire Night 2016: Where to watch the fireworks in the West Midlands

As Guy Fawkes Night approaches, organisers are preparing for a host of events and firework displays across the Black Country and Staffordshire.

Thousands of people of all ages are expected to join in the festivities which include one of the area's biggest events at Himley Hall and Park on the Dudley-South Staffordshire border. It's among many venues across the region getting ready to welcome families.

Wolverhampton

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Wolverhampton Racecourse

DETAILS: A bonfire and fireworks night will take place with gates opening at 5pm. The event will begin with the children's display at 7pm, followed by the lighting of the bonfire by the Mayor of Wolverhampton at 7.30pm and finally the full fireworks display from 8.30pm. Tickets cost £4 fpr adults and £2 for children in advance, or £5 for adults and £3 for children on the gate.

DATE: Sunday, November 6

VENUE: Old Wulfrunians Sports and Social Club in Castlecroft Road, Wolverhampton

DETAILS: The annual fireworks display and bonfire event will also offer an outdoor bar, cask ales and keg lager, hot cider, sparkles, food and live music. The lighting of the bonfire is at 6.30pm followed by the fireworks display at 7pm. Tickets are £3 for adults and £2 for children.

Staffordshire

Shugborough Estate

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Shugborough Estate, Stafford

DETAILS: The Stafford and District Round Table's annual firework event takes place next weekend. Gates will open at 4.30pm along with the fair and food outlets before the children's fireworks display at 7pm, with the main display set to start at 8pm. Adult tickets are £7 (over 15) with under 15s priced at £3.

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Lichfield Golf and Country Club

DETAILS: As well as a bonfire, the club will host a range of activities for children including a disco, a bouncy castle and various other inflatables. The bonfire will be lit at 6.30pm before the fireworks set off at 7.15pm. Tickets are £7 for adults, £5 for children and under 2s are free. A family ticket costs £20.

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Penkridge Market

DETAILS: Penkridge Scout Group will be hosting its annual bonfire night. Gates open at 6pm with tickets for under 16s priced at £2 and £4 for adults or £10 for families.

DATE: Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6

VENUE: Alton Towers Resort

DETAILS: Though the theme park season is drawing to a close, sensational fireworks are lined up. Visitors will have the opportunity to enjoy selected rides until 9pm, adding a whole new experience for avid coaster goers. Adult prices start from £36, children from £31 and family tickets from £30 which includes entry to the theme park until 9pm.

DATE: Sunday, November 6

VENUE: Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club

DETAILS: A family-friendly firework night at the Stafford Cricket and Hockey Club is kicking off proceedings at 6pm. Along with great fireworks, there will be a farmers barbeque, real ales, raffle, stalls and more. Tickets are £5.

Walsall

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Walsall Arboretum

DETAILS: The arboretum will host its annual bonfire and fireworks event, which will also feature Britain's Got Talent stars Stavros Flatley. The night will include a music stage after doors open at 5.30pm before the fireworks display starts at 8pm. Tickets can be purchased in advance online from www.ticketsource.co.uk/walsallarboretum with adult tickets costing £5, child tickets £2 and under 5s are free.

Sandwell

Bonfire night at Victoria Park in Stafford

DATE: Friday, November 4

VENUE: Victoria Park, Smethwick

DETAILS: The event will start at 5.30pm and the large fireworks display will begin at 8.15pm. Admission for Victoria Park event is free and there will be a stage with entertainment and hot and cold food stalls.

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Dartmouth Park, West Bromwich

DETAILS: Fireworks will light the sky and a stage with entertainment, licensed bar, glow lights and hot and cold food stalls will fill the park. The event starts at 5.30pm before lighting the bonfire at 6.15pm. And 7.15pm will mark the start of the children's firework display before the main display at 8.15pm. Admission charges are as follows: adults are £3, children are £1.50 or the park will be offering a family ticket for £7.50 which includes two adults and two children or three children and one adult.

Dudley and Wyre Forest

DATE: Saturday, November 5

VENUE: Himley Hall and Park, Dudley

DETAILS: Gates will open at 4.30pm with the giant bonfire, containing more than 1,500 wooden pallets, being lit at 7.45pm before the fireworks spectacular set starts at 8.30pm. Tickets are £9 for adults, £4.50 for juniors and senior citizens and free for under 5s. A family ticket for two adults and two children is £23 and car parking is £3.

DATE: Saturday, November 5 and Sunday, November 6

VENUE: West Midland Safari Park

DETAILS: Fireworks, bonfire, a sea lion show, a disco and late-night rides are all on the schedule. The event will kick off at 6.30pm when the bonfire is lit before the fireworks fill the sky at 7.15pm. The park and rides close at 10pm. Admission is £14, an adult wristband is £13 and a child wristband is £12.
