Tony Christie set for Wolverhampton Grand Theatre show

He's a long way from Amarillo, but Tony Christie is to tread the boards in Wolverhampton later this month.

The star is to perform at the city's Grand Theatre on November 10 as part of a tour to promote his new album.

Folk band Ranagri will be Christie's special guests, with audiences treated to some of Tony's greatest hits plus songs from his recent hit album The Great Irish Songbook.

Christie's new 50-track collection, released on September 16, coincides with his nationwide tour of the UK where he will perform his biggest hits 'Amarillo', 'Las Vegas', as well as 'I Did What I Did For Maria.' The star's new album includes brand new songs recorded in Memphis including the single 'Early Morning Memphis'.

The album includes a string of classic covers that includes, Jimmy Webb's classic 'Didn't We', George Harrison's 'My Sweet Lord', Dobie Gray's 'Drift Away' and Bacharach & David's, 'A House Is Not A Home.'

Christie's career began in the accounts office of a steel company in Yorkshire, while he was singing semi-professionally in working men's clubs in the North of England.
