It was the Black Country's first major switch-on event for 2016 and more than 500 people turned up.

The duo, who were runners up in last year's final of the TV talent show, flicked on the lights at 6pm yesterday as part of a programme of activities that started at noon.

Bollie said: "It was amazing. The crowd's reaction was amazing. The whole energy was amazing."

X Factor's Freddy Parker and Christian Burrows also performed alongside Britain's Got Talent finalists Jack Pack. Christian said: "I loved performing here. When the crowd sing my lyrics I feel blessed."

Reggie 'n' Bollie released their first single New Girl in May 2016, which charted 26 in the UK Top 40.

Revellers gathered for the day of live entertainment on the lower mall near River Island.

Kirsty Hadlington, aged 31 from Bilston, who was with her family, said: "Our favourites were Reggie 'n' Bollie. It was an amazing event."
