The Old Stags Head pub, based on Pennwood Lane, Penn, Wolverhampton, is believed to have been built in 1824.

It is close to St. Bartholomew's Church, on Church Hill.

Three months ago, landlady Sara James, 34, took over the pub with licensee Chris Morgan, 49.

Since taking over, Sara says she has experienced hundreds of haunted happenings.

Now the pub is looking forward to welcoming customers on October 29 for a free Halloween party which may see the ghosts come out of the woodwork.

"There are two ghosts at the pub", Sara said, "a lady and a man. The lady lives in the cellar and we hear her crying a lot. She turns the beer off down there too, which can be the only explanation."

It is rumoured that at one time, there was a tunnel connecting the church to the pub.

"We also have a male ghost." Sara said, "He has pushed and grabbed me, thrown glasses at me and the regulars and even pinned me to the bed. I've never been frightened though. I think he's just hostile because we're new.

"The old landlady at the pub, who ran the pub for about 36 years, now works in the kitchen.

"When I told her what I experienced, she said the same thing, happen to her."

Ghost hunters have not found anything at the pub.
