More than 850 stallholders were lined up at the 23rd Carole Nash Classic Motorcycle Mechanics Show, held at the Staffordshire County Showground, and were joined by more than 15,000 visitors.

Countless rows of valuable motorbikes and mopeds were put on display and special star guests chatted to enthusiasts, including stars of the 1972 documentary, On Any Sunday.

Dave Aldana, Don Emde, Mert Lawwill and Gene Romero all took part in Anglo-American Match Races at UK circuits in the 1970s and were in Stafford over the weekend. Amongst famous bikes on display, fans could see film star Steve McQueen's Husqvarna 400, which he himself rode in On Any Sunday. The town also hosts the International Classic Motorcycle Show in the spring.

Organiser Nick Mowbray said: "They come from Ireland, Europe, they come from everywhere. It's a very popular event."

On his own obsession with motorbikes, Mr Mowbray said: "Once it's in you, it never leaves you. All these people are motorcycle enthusiasts because the first vehicle they got was a motorbike. Now the younger generation, it's with cars but we couldn't afford cars.

Famous bikes were revved up in the event's Classic Racer GP Paddock, while trial demonstrations were held at its Classic Dirt Bike Experience stand.
