The last time such a train was formed was back in 1964, and the SVR's highly-skilled team has been working right up to the last minute to finish off the restoration work on the last few carriages.

Flying Scotsman's renovation was completed earlier this year at a cost of £4.2million. After the VIP Charity Day, it will take part in the Railway's Pacific Power event, alongside Tornado for the next five days.

Guests on the day were encouraged to wear 1930s attire, in keeping with the heritage theme.
