The images have appeared on walls in Livery Street ready for sci-fi thriller Ready Player One which is due to start filming next week.

The artworks are stuck to the bricks rather than sprayed directly on them, meaning that they can be easily removed afterwards.

Spielberg, the director behind such movie classics as Jaws, ET, Jurassic Park and Gremlins arrived in Birmingham last week to start shooting of the film. It stars Mark Rylance and Simon Pegg.

Filming took place over two days in Digbeth, though road closures in the Jewellery Quarter planned for August 19 and 20 to prepare for shooting were cancelled at the last minute. Filming was taking place outside the Ashton Engineering company, based on Floodgate Street, with props including a special retro van placed close by, opposite graffiti-covered gates.

Filming is due to take place on September 5 in Lionel and Newhall Streets and from September 6-9 on Livery and Water Streets.
