The director, arguably most well known for his work on ET and Jurassic Park, was spotted in the Digbeth area of the city today along with several members of the cast.

Filming was taking place outside the Ashton Engineering company, based on Floodgate Street, with props including a special retro van placed close by, opposite graffiti-covered gates.

Security was on hand to close the section of road immediately around the filming and signs were in place for anyone looking to pass through the area.

The Academy Award winning director, who is rumoured to be worth around $3 billion, was snapped running around the set and advising cast members on where to go and what to do.

His latest film, due to be released in 2018, tells the story of the creator of a massive multiplayer online game (MMO) called 'The Oasis', who releases a video before his death, challenging players to find his 'Easter Egg'.
