A £500 gift from Unison and a business donation of £250 brought the fund over a critical level. It follows an anonymous £5,000 donation and £1,000 from Councillor Ian Brookfield's mayoral charity fund.
The event will be on Saturday, October 1. Adam Dewitt-Bukater, who set up the GoFundMe appeal, said Pride would now take place. The group has until the end of August to raise £9,000 to ensure a parade as well. He said: "We've got enough to hold an inside event, so it's definitely happening, but to pay for road closures on top of that, we'll need to raise the full amount."
