Tens of thousands of people flocked to the town to raise a glass to the classic combination of cheese and ale.

The event, held on Friday and Saturday also brought producers of breads, oils, chutneys, cider and wine from across Staffordshire and the Black Country as well as further afield together to showcase their wares to hungry shoppers.

Staff from Titanic Brewery, which runs The Sun Inn in Lichfield Road, Stafford were offering drinks with a difference including Cappuccino Stout and Cherry Dark.

Pub manager Steve Aukim said it had been a 'fantastic' event, adding: "It was really busy".

Among the other stallholders was Terry Perks from Great Barr-based Willow Cottage Store, which produces and sells pickles, sauces, chutneys, jams and pork scratchings.

"Everything goes well with all the cheese and ale. It's been a good event although the weather put a dampener on it at the end when it started to rain. I was at the last two festivals but this is the first time it's been a two-day event."

There was also plenty of tasty cheese to sample from stalls including Flavours The Cheese Cavern in Chasetown and the Nibble Nose Cheese Company based in Lincolnshire.

Other activities at the town's third Cheese, Ale and More Festival included masterclasses, cookery demonstrations from the Staffordshire Chefs Forum and The Great Chefs Challenge.

Festival goers were also able to enjoy an alfresco bar throughout the two days as well as an array of music and street theatre.
