Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service's annual celebration, the MORE awards, is in its ninth year and has seen the Alton Towers Rescue Crew nominated – including firefighters from the rope rescue team at Stafford Fire.

Those involved in the rescue are described as going above and beyond the call of duty, showing determination and courage which was not only inspiring but lifesaving.

Winners of the awards will be announced during a ceremony at the County Showground on June 30.

Chief fire officer Becci Bryant said: "We have an incredibly dedicated and hard-working team which is made up of operational firefighters, support staff and volunteers, and we are proud of the excellent work that they carry out on a daily basis."
