The Queen to visit National Memorial Arboretum in May

The Queen will be coming to Staffordshire next month, it has been announced.

Yesterday, on the day Her Royal Majesty turned 90, The National Memorial Arboretum confirmed she would be visiting the venue in Alrewas on Sunday, May 17, for a private event.

The Queen's last formal visit to the county was in 2011 when she attended Lichfield Cathedral for the Royal Mercian and Lancastrian Yeomanry homecoming parade and thanksgiving service.

Before that Her Majesty had visited Stafford in 2006 to join in the celebrations to mark the 800th anniversary of the town being granted its first royal charter by King John.

She has not attended the National Memorial Arboretum for more than a decade last visiting in 2002 as part of her Golden jubilee tour.
