The 23-year-old is taking part in her first beauty pageant and trying to lift the title of Miss Black Country.

Jade, a nursery nurse from Cherrington Gardens, Compton, said: "I would love to have a bit more confidence and I thought this was a perfect way to build up my self belief."

She has got through the initial audition and is now hard at work raising money for the Beauty With Purpose charity.

She is also designing and making an eco friendly dress that she will have to model on the catwalk in the final.

Those are two of the tasks that competitors have to complete before the big night at the Copthorne Hotel at the Merry Hill centre on May 22.

Jade said: "I love to help people and so really enjoy charity work. I also like to be creative and will really enjoy making the dress but will be keeping my fingers crossed that it stays in one piece while I am showing it off.

"My boyfriend Tim Hanneman is really supportive of my taking part in the pageant and I hope other people will back me by showing their support on my Facebook page Miss Jade Wooldridge."
