Admission to the city's Monmore Green Greyhound Track will be free on March 28 - Easter Monday - as the venue hosts one of its popular fun days with the aim of raising money for a good cause.

As well as 14 greyhound races, track owners have lined up a series of other events to help raise funds for the Marie Curie Cancer Care charity.

Among the activities that will be taking place to keep youngsters entertained are a pluck a duck game, tombola and face painter.

The highlight of the day will be a grand raffle for a giant chocolate Easter Egg, which has been donated by a customer.

Visitors to the stadium in Sutherland Avenue will also get a chance to meet some of the retired greyhounds.

Monmore Green Stadium spokeswoman Jo Till said it was one of four fun days the stadium regularly stages for charity.

She said: "We hold them on a bank holiday and generally get over 1,000 people down here. Easter Monday's activities will help raise money for the British Heart Foundation which is a really worthy charity. We would encourage people to bring the family down to help support a great cause and have a great day out."

The first race on the day is scheduled to take place at 10.38am, with gates to the stadium opening to members of the public from 10am.

The stadium, which has a trackside restaurant, offers free parking, and baby changing facilities are also available.

The Ladbroke-owned facility also stages greyhound dog racing on Monday and Friday afternoons with free admission.
