Deputy mayor Councillor Mo Hanif said the new theatre would be a fantastic asset for the community. He told the Express & Star:

"I think it's good news that things like the open theatre are being promoted. It's a lovely site and it's good that the work is progressing. Along with all the other regeneration that is going on across Dudley this will benefit the community."

The authority's regeneration boss Councillor Khurshid Ahmed said he was hopeful the attraction will be ready to host open-air shows by April. Work has been put on hold due to the weather but the finishing touches will be added some time next month.
