WATCH: One Direction join James Corden for Carpool Karaoke

They may be planning to take a break next year – but One Direction have proved they are all still up for having a laugh as they joined James Corden to sing a few of their hits as a part of his Carpool Karaoke on the Late Late Show.

The comedian's 'Carpool Karaoke' has become a social media phenomenon, and has featured the likes of Mariah Carey, Stevie Wonder and Rod Stewart in the past but this one could well be the best yet.

The segment airs during Corden's Late Late Show every Tuesday night on American channel CBS.

Band members Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson and Wolverhampton's Liam Payne sent Twitter into a frenzy after they sung a medley of their biggest hits, indulged in a spot of choreographed in-car dancing, and even played a game of 'Sleep With, Marry, Cruise.'

The trip round the streets of Los Angeles kicked-off with a rendition of the boys' debut hit What Makes You Beautiful, and Gavin and Stacey star Corden proved a more than capable replacement for Zayn Malik, who left the group earlier this year.

After the song, whilst waiting at traffic lights, the boys are greeted by a car full of screaming girls and Bushbury lad Payne admitted: "She's been following me for a while that one, I've seen her a couple of times now."

The host, and driver of the car, then comes up with the idea to choreograph an in-car dance routine to the group's single No Control.

He pulls out of five identical denim shirts, which they all put on, with Corden declaring: "Already this feels like we are a proper boy band."

The five appear to enjoy every second and Corden says: "I think you should rethink this hiatus because it feels right, doesn't it?

"I just feel like we have really hit upon something unbelievable."

Corden also pleads with the band to not split, performs a freestyle rap as the band sing Drag Me Down, and adds: "I can bring something to the band guys."

After some more tomfoolery, Corden asks the boys if they are apprehensive, or excited, about their upcoming hiatus.

Payne replies: "Obviously it's a scary thing because we haven't stopped for five years, but I think more than anything we are going to miss being on stage.

"We haven't seen our families, my mum and dad are actually coming to live with me for a little bit, which is nice. I get to spend some time with them."

Shortly after their latest release, Made in the A.M, the group announced they would be taking a break in 2016 to focus on solo projects. The split is expected to last for 18 months, but the band have promised fans they will return.

Tomlinson said: "It's going to be interesting to see what each of us do as individuals throughout the break. I think it's going to be cool."
