Walsall ready to launch Christmas celebrations

Traders in Brownhills are gearing up to welcome hundreds of visitors to the town this weekend for its annual Christmas celebration.

The event, run by Walsall Council, will feature a packed variety of entertainment and attractions throughout Saturday starting at 10am until 4pm

There will be plenty for youngsters including Christmas-themed face painting and children's rides including a giant slide, a Formula 1-inspired ride, a merry go round and a rodeo bull. The main attraction on the day will be the Christmas market on the High Street.

This year's Santa's Grotto will be held in the Silver Court Parade. There will be performances from the likes of the Brownhills Rock Choir, Trudy Bethell, Isabelle and Ma's Brown Boys. The event will be closed by the Brownhills Festival of Music and Light held in the Canoe and Outdoor Centre, which will take place between 6pm and 7.30pm. That will feature illuminated boats and Christmas carols performed by the Spotlight Youth Productions.

Build-up to the event actually starts tomorrow with the start of the Christmas Tree Festival in Brownhills Methodist Church until Saturday.
