The restaurant, which opened on Cheapside in 1982, has been named in The Sunday Times' annual top 100 restaurant guide in the UK, coming in at number nine in the Midlands.

It comes after the restaurant announced last month that it had retained its coveted Michelin-rated status for the 15th year in a row.

It is the only restaurant in the city to hold Michelin status and has been a popular haunt with celebrities and politicians over the years.

Mohammed Khan, who manages the day-to-day running of the operation, said: "We are highly delighted to be recognised to be in the top 100 restaurants and being only one in three out of the Birmingham area is such a great achievement."

Bilash is also in The AA Food Guide, The Good Food Guide and the Harden's Guide.
