Incredible Spider-Man coming to the Black Country

Dubbed The Incredible Spider-Man, Frenchman Alain Robert has also climbed cliffs, mountains and gorges without any ropes or safety equipment.

He has done all this despite suffering from vertigo, epilepsy and being medically assessed as permanently 66 per cent disabled. He will now be performing on November 9 at the Sadler's Brewhouse on Station Road, Lye.

Mr Robert, aged 53, is well known for attempting legendary feats with his bare hands, which have brought him global celebrity status. Sales director at Sadler's Brewhouse Ian King said: "To bring someone of this stature to our brewery in Lye is remarkable, I'm very excited for the event.

"It's a massive coup for us and I'm very excited and happy to be having such a big name in the brewery.

"People should start snapping up tickets now because it's definitely going to be a sell out, as he's already sold out shows in Bristol and Oxford.

"He is a true living legend and his own life story is unbelievably compelling and inspirational."

Alain suffered a major fall in 1982 while assisting a group of young climbers and was left in a coma for five days with a number of broken bones.

He was told by his surgeon, months after undergoing numerous procedures, that he had 'never seen such shattered hands' and would never recover from the fall.

On leaving hospital he returned to his home town of Digoin but was unfazed by his injuries and continued to climb walls.

To date some of his achievements have been the ascent of the National Bank of Abu Dhabi, which attracted 150,000 spectators, and his ascent of the Sapphire Mall, Istanbul, where 400 TV and Media crews were present.
