Scores of passers-by stopped to take photographs of the red 1974 Ford Gran Torino, made famous by the iconic cop show series.

It was in Wolverhampton as the countdown begins to the arrival of Starsky and Hutch star Paul Michael Glaser, who is appearing in Fiddler on the Roof at the Grand Theatre.

The show, directed by Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood, will be at the Grand from October 15 to 19.

Kate Evans, spokeswoman for the Lichfield Street theatre, said: "We did a tour of the city's main landmarks with the car and it went down really well.

"It attracted a lot of attention and lots of people were stopping to take pictures of it.

"Paul Michael Glaser is a huge star and it is a big thing for us to have him here at the theatre. With the show only two weeks away, we're starting the countdown now to his arrival. We thought what better way than a special appearance from the car which was driven by Starsky?

"It's such an iconic motor."

Paul Michael Glaser will be playing the role of Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof.

He has previously played the part of Topol in the 1971 film version of the show. In Starsky and Hutch, he played detective David Michael Starsky. For tickets, call the box office on 01902 429212.
