DanceXchange celebrates at Birmingham Hippodrome
Friday 9th December 2011, 11:36AM GMT.
Aakash Odedra, an upcoming star of British South Asian Dance, will be helping DanceXchange (dx) celebrate 10 years at Birmingham Hippodrome with the world premiere of his latest work tonight (Friday, December 9, 2011).
Rising is an evening of dance performed by Odedra. The evening will showcase pieces created by renowned international choreographers Akram Khan, Russell Maliphant and Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui as well as a piece of Odedra’s own creation.
All of the works call on his background in the classical Indian dance disciplines of Kathak and Bharatanatyam.
David Massingham, DanceXchange Artistic Director says: “We’re delighted dx is able to present Aakash’s world premiere. He has been working with some of the UK’s top choreographers, so I’m excited to see what they’ve created.”
The event, which starts at 8pm, represents the final chapter in dx’s special 10th anniversary season at Birmingham Hippodrome. Book on www.dancexchange.org.uk
