Dreamboats and Petticoats at Wolverhampton Grand Theatre
Friday 25th November 2011, 2:47PM GMT.
When Dreamboats and Petticoats rolls up at Wolverhampton’s Grand Theatre, expect its cast to be well-drilled.
They’ve been on the road since June 6, visiting theatres around the UK, and will arrive at the Grand on Monday, November 28, 2011, for a run that will continue until Saturday, December 3.
The present production started out at the Theatre Royal Windsor and has since visited Birmingham Hippodrome, Edinburgh Playhouse, Truro Hall for Cornwall, Peterborough The Broadway Theatre and Swindon Wyvern Theatre.
It subsequently visited Llandudno, Leeds, Bournemouth, Dublin, Glasgow, Tunbridge Wells, Liverpool, Dunstable, Cardiff, Dundee, Salford, Crawley, Coventry and Aberdeen before its forthcoming stint at Wolverhampton.
Vicky Price, spokeswoman for The Grand Theatre, said: “Inspired by the smash hit multi-million selling albums Dreamboats and Petticoats 1,2,3 and 4, the West-End sell-out sensation Dreamboats and Petticoats is back at the Grand by popular demand.”
Ms Price added that the piece was set in the 1960s.
She said: “In 1961 emotions run high as talented young musicians Norman and Bobby compete to win the hearts of their adoring female fans – and more importantly, the gorgeous Laura.
“But when Laura shows that she’s no slouch with the guitar, rock ‘n’ roll fame beckons.”
The production features hit songs from the golden era of Roy Orbison, The Shadows, Eddie Cochran, Billy Fury, Chuck Berry and many more.
Ms Price added: “Dreamboats and Petticoats will transport you back to an age when good old fashioned rock ‘n’ roll ruled the airwaves and the dancefloors.”
The tour coincides with the release of Dreamboats and Petticoats 5.
The new album, titled ‘Coffee bars and Candy’, was released early in November and features hits from Rock and Roll legends such as Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley, The Searchers, Dusty Springfield and many more.
