Rock acts line up for Wolverhampton shows
Friday 28th October 2011, 7:33AM BST.
The home of rock welcomes some of the genre’s biggest names this week – with Motorhead, Incubus and Black Veil Brides all lining up in the Black Country.
The region has become synonymous with metal – and fans have a treat in store with Motorhead playing Wolverhampton’s Civic Hall on Wednesday (November 2, 2011), Incubus headlining the same venue on Thursday (November 3) and Black Veil Brides starring at Wulfrun Hall this Sunday (October 30).
Motorhead are perennial favourites and have headlined the venue on numerous occasions. Their national tour will stop at 11 cities across the UK and follows the huge success of last year’s 35th anniversary tour and the the release of the critically acclaimed rockumentary Lemmy.
Civic spokesman Jonn Penney said: “This year, as well as the Motorhead tour, Lemmy’s side project HeadCat has released a brand new album Walk The Walk, Talk The Talk and a Live DVD.”
Motorhead are among the world’s most enduring rock bands having notched up a raft of hits.
They were among the earliest members of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal and albums like Overkill, Bomber, Ace of Spaces and No Sleep ‘til Hammersmith cemented their reputation.
The band’s distinctive fanged-face logo, with oversized boar horns, chains and spikes, is among the most iconic image in rock.
Incubus, meanwhile, have a long way to go if they’re to match the longevity of Motorhead – although they’re on their way. The band was formed in 1991 by singer Brandon Boyd, guitarist Mike Einziger and drummer Jose Pasillas.
Their 1999 album Make Yourself took them into the mainstream while their sixth album, Light Grenades, was a number one. The band’s seventh album, If Not Now, When?, was released this summer.
Black Veil Brides, meanwhile, are based in Hollywood and are known for their distinctive appearance, which was largely inspired by Kiss and other 1980s glam metal acts.
The band formed in 2006 and have had numerous members before settling on their current five-strong line-up.
They released their second album, Set the World on Fire, this year, which features the hit single, Fallen Angels.
