Midlands Halloween events this weekend
Friday 28th October 2011, 7:32AM BST.
Halloween is on its way and this weekend you can find some creepy events to keep you entertained.
With ghost walks, scary movie marathons and creepy-crawly close encounters, there’s plenty of Halloween-themed spooky goings on across the Midlands for those who have out-grown trick-or-treating.
Watch out for zombies and wailing women at West Midland Safari Park, while ghouls and devils will be wandering the halls of Cadbury World.
And the bloody history of the Black Country will come to life with the annual ghost walk around Dudley.
Horror movie buffs can head to The Public in West Bromwich for their two-night Dead by Dawn extravaganza.
Five films – including Zombies of Sugar Hill and Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn – will play throughout the night, from 8pm until 8am, tonight and tomorrow. Tickets are £15, available from the box office on 0121 533 7161.
Meanwhile, if you think a normal night at Oceana Wolverhampton is frightening enough, don’t go near tonight as their Halloween Weekender fright night special gets underway from 10pm (tickets £6).
Those who want something a bit more light-hearted can dress up and head to West Midlands Safari Park, near Bewdley, for the Spooky Spectacular event.
Between now and Sunday, as the daylight fades, more than 3,000 pumpkins will light up around the park, while staff in scary costumes will roam the paths.
Tree Tops Pavilions has been transformed into a Halloween-themed craft centre for families, with ghostly tales on offer during story time.
Normal admission prices apply, with prices starting from £4.99 for the Spooky Nights event.

Spooky activities are also on offer at Cadbury World, where children will be able to take part in a Most Scary fancy dress competition before entertainment from children’s performer Rags and ventriloquist Kimmo.
A special menu has been drawn up for the attraction in Bournville, Birmingham, to include sludge casserole, werewolf eyes and witches’ broth.
Marketing manager Diane Mitchell said: “We’ve introduced a mix of activities to entertain the entire family this Halloween. We’re positive that whether you’re young or old a trip to Cadbury World this Halloween is guaranteed to be a scream.”
Ghostly goings-on will hit the streets of Shrewsbury when a spooky guided walk takes place on Halloween Monday.
It’s part of a series of walks around a town considered one of the most haunted in the UK.
Residents can sign up for the guided ghost walk at 7pm, with others planned on November 3, 10, 17 and 24.
Tours will start from The Square and tickets are priced £4 for adults or £2.50 for children. People can book by calling (01743) 281200.
A ghost walk will also start from Dudley’s Court House Pub at 7pm on Sunday.
