Concert review by John Corser
Veteran prog rock band The Enid joined forces with the Midlands' premier classical orchestra for a unique concert in Birmingham's best acoustic venue.
Saturday night's show was billed as A Night of Power and Romance.
The delivery of Enid songwriter Robert John Godfrey's songs through a rock band augmented by an orchestra and choir worked brilliantly.
The almost capacity audience was thrilled to hear some of their favourites from the band's 37-year history including Fand and In the Region of the Summer Stars taken to a new level with the sheer excellence of the CBSO's playing.
The second half of the performance began with the appearance of comic book legend Alan Moore delivering a slightly heckled poem, The Mirror of Love, to the solo accompaniment of Godfrey, who took to the stage on crutches, on piano.
Fans were treated to a complete performance of the album Journey's End and the Barclay James Harvest song Mockingbird was also performed in memory of Godfrey's late band mate Stuart "Woolly" Wolstenholme who died last year.
