Dave Gorman in Midlands dates
Friday 30th September 2011, 11:30AM BST.
Staffordshire funnyman Dave Gorman brings his latest stand-up show to Shrewsbury tonight (September 30, 2011) and Stafford on Monday (October 3, 2011).
His most recent foray had him ‘gaming’ against willing competitors from across the UK. Staffordshire’s funnyman-in-chief, Dave Gorman, pitted himself against the Rest of the World in his critically-acclaimed autumn tombe, returning to Stafford to launch it at a local bookshop.
The book featured Gorman’s challenge to 76,000 internet users – Do you fancy a game?
He says: “I played some classics – Monopoly, Scrabble, dominoes and cribbage.
“I also played a load of games I’d never heard of before – Khet, Kubb, Tikal or Smite anyone? I played board games and physical games. I’ve thrown sticks, balls, frisbees and darts. I’ve rolled dice and I’ve drawn cards.”
He also got hit by one over-zealous competitor. When Gorman lines up at Shrewsbury’s Theatre Severn tonight – and again at Stafford’s Gatehouse Theatre on Monday – he’ll offer his Powerpoint Presentation for the audience’s delectation.
Theatre Severn spokesman Craig Reeves said: “Dave is well known for his shows, Are You Dave Gorman? and his Googlewhack Adventure.
“He has long been one of comedy’s most innovative thinkers and for this brand new show he’s formed a double act with a projector screen.
“He’d like to show people a Powerpoint presentation. Cast your Powerpoint prejudice aside, it’s not just for business meetings.”
Gorman added: “For five months earlier this year I hosted Dave Gorman’s Screen Guild at Hoxton Hall.
“It allowed me to develop all the material that’s in this show as well as giving me an opportunity to introduce an audience to my favourite acts.”
Gorman’s tour also takes in Birmingham Symphony Hall on Monday, November 7, 2011, and Wolverhampton Civic Hall on Monday, November 21, 2011.
