Tom Stade

Wulfrun Hall, Wolverhampton

Review by Mike Woods

They say the old ones are the best, and for fans of Canadian comedian Tom Stade there was an element of truth in that last night.

The funnyman, back in the city he once called home, rattled through his swipes at British culture, our sex lives and shopping habits.

But, unusually, his best-known material got the most rapturous reception.

In a routine which has been the subject of countless YouTube replays, the Meat Van Guy closed the set.

Almost every line was greeted with a cheer from the audience, most appearing to know it off by heart.

It was this observation of Black Country life which first endeared him to a new group of fans.

Most of last night's material felt very fresh though and the audience interaction made for an experience that can't be replicated with internet replays.
