Cirque Éloize calling at Birmingham Hippodrome

Cirque Éloize is bringing a unique blend of circus arts and urban dance to the Birmingham Hippodrome for just five exhilarating performances from Wednesday, November 2, 2011 to Saturday, November 5.
The company will be performing its brand new production ID at the theatre as part of a short UK tour qalso taking in Canterbury, Belfast and Cardiff. Tickets range from £14.50-£30.
ID, which will make its Midland’s premiere at Birmingham Hippodrome, brings together b-boying/b-girling, breakdance, hip-hop, juggling, bike trial, aerial performances, trampolining and much more.
It features an international cast of 16 energetic and multi-skilled performers fusing circus and multimedia, giving it a unique feel.
Jeannot Painchaud, Cirque Éloize’s artistic director said: “There are sixteen artists on stage with twelve circus disciplines, and then the discovery of a world which is new, that of urban dances such as breakdance and hip-hop. The decidedly rock, electronic and poetic music, coupled with the presence of video, highlight the show’s playful, energetic, youthful and urban aspects.”
Positioned at the heart of the renewal of circus arts, Cirque Éloize has been creating moving performances filled with magic since 1993. It is one of the leaders in contemporary circus arts. With seven original productions to its credit the company has presented more than 4,000 performances in over 425 cities and 35 countries.
Cirque Éloize has taken part in numerous prestigious international festivals and recently performed on Broadway with its show Rain.
Since 2004, Cirque Éloize’s head office in Old Montreal has been the site for dialogue and encounters for the circus community. To date the company hires more than 100 people, working with various teams and projects.
