Xabi Alonso, eat your heart out. The former Liverpool midfielder was well-known for scoring goals from inside his own half, but he’s been well-and-truly outdone by the Norwegian Jone Samuelsen.
Because whilst the Spaniard used to stroke them in with his feet, the Odd Grenland midfielder scored from behind the half-way line with his head.
It was the last minute of the game and Tromso IL, trailing 2-1, had sent their goalkeeper up for a corner.
The ball was hacked away up-field and cleared back again by the defender, before Samuelsen saw his opportunity and headed it towards the open goal.
Despite the best efforts of the keeper to reach it, the ball rolled into the empty net for what must surely be the longest-distance headed goal ever scored.
