The Light Bar Wolverhampton plays indie music on Fridays

Unfortunately it looks like the summer is coming to an end for us, writes DJ Stuart Ojelay,  and unless you’re fortunate enough to be heading off to hedonistic locations such as Ibiza for the closing parties, then keep it here for the best of the local clubbing action to ease you into the autumn.

Kicking things off to an alternative start to your weekend with the best in indie music is the Light Bar, at  the  Chubb Buildings Wolverhampton tonight.

The guys have put a great deal of effort in to revive this iconic building and it seems that they’ve reaped the rewards with big crowds every week embracing the alternative sound.

The big basslines and electro vibes continue at Lush at Gorgeous tonight with DJs Joe Campbell, Danny Jones, Scott Roberts and Ste Chater. They’ve also introduced a second room hosted by Dubstars where it looks like more bass action is on the cards!

It’s also great to see the Sarf crew back in the city centre of Wolverhampton. After they’ve been enjoying themselves around the party capitals of the world and festivals they’re putting all this positivity into giving their local following one hell of a good time!

DJs include Edd Cooke, Jon Brady, Alex & James Hughes and Marc Spence who will be firing out the Sarf anthems through a function one sound system at the Planet Warehouse Nightclub.

If you’re heading into the centre of Birmingham tonight then don’t forget to don some snazzy headwear and make a beeline to the Fidget Hat Party at the Rainbow Garden.

They’ve shown no stopping in pushing the jackin’ house sound to the masses and DJs tonight include Housejackerz, De Contrebande and Neil Ormonde.

Just outside the second city in Solihull we see the Back Once Again gang host their last party of the summer of 2011 at the Coach House.

They’ve a boosted sound system installed and you’ll be treated to over six hours of continuous anthems and classics fronted by house legend Graeme Park. Support comes from Tomislav, Ste Savage, Colin Dread and Luke Eagle.

Moving into Saturday and if its forward thinking musical manoeuvres you’re after then the Viva Showcase, who have teamed up with Face to take over the Rainbow across The Cellar Door AND The Courtyard, should be right up your alley!

Headlining are Leon and Darius Syrossian who are at the top of the tech tree at the moment. Add to the mix Elliot Croft and Smak Pony and this is a heavyweight musical treat.

Sticking within the Rainbow complex to take you into the early hours of Sunday morning and believe me the bigness shows no sign of stopping as Rock n Rolla bring out their superstar card again as Chris Lake headlines the Warehouse. In full support are residents Rue Jay, Alex Schmitz and Tom Shorterz. Looking into next week and hopefully there will be an influx of students coming into the city who will be reading this column!

One for you guys to check out Fuzzy Logic each and every Tuesday at Oceana, Wolverhampton. These guys are responsible for putting on the biggest student nights in the UK and expect some big acts and sassy promo staff.

I’m off on a jet plane again as once more my Hed Kandi duties take me to Eastern Europe and the capital of Poland, Warsaw. I always have a great time when in this part of world and as per will report on my antics here next week.

But for instant updates I’ve also set up a new Facebook page which features all my podcasts, online columns and pictures. Or if you just need to get in touch for a mention then head to Facebook.com/stuartojelay
