Klub Kerrang! rock nights returning to Wolverhampton
Thursday 25th August 2011, 2:49PM BST.
Following this month’s successful launch, Wolverhampton’s Slade Rooms has confirmed the dates for the next two Klub Kerrang! rock nights.
The city’s new monthly rock and alternative club night will return to the Slade Rooms on Friday, September 9, 2011 and Friday, October 28, 2011.
The evenings feature Featuring Kerrang! Radio DJs playing “everything that rock” from 10pm – 3am. Tickets are £5 on the door.
Loz Guest, who presents the rock and roll years programme on the Birmingham-based station, was the first DJ to appear as part of the new night on August 12.
“We are very excited to be a part of what we expect will become an established night here in Wolverhampton. The West Midlands has always had a very rich and vibrant rock scene,” he said.
Bosses at The Slade Rooms, in Broad Street, hope the monthly Klub Kerrang! event will reinvigorate the city’s nightlife seven months after Cheeky Monkey was scrapped as a weekly fixture on the calendar.
Civic Halls manager Mark Blackstock said the night had been being launched as there was a huge demand for a rock-themed night from fans in the city.
“We’ve recognised that the world is changing and this is a dynamic way to attract new people to The Slade Rooms.
“Given that Download Festival sells out every year, we’d be a bunch of mugs not to copy it, so we’re teaming up with Kerrang!; the best people in the country to do this.”
The Slade Rooms opened in March last year replacing the former Little Civic on North Street after its lease ended.
