Miniatura dolls’ house show at Birmingham NEC
Thursday 11th August 2011, 12:40PM BST.
It’ll be a doll’s life at Birmingham NEC in September when one of the world’s biggest miniature events comes to the Midlands.
Miniatura is renowned for the most varied and best quality miniaturists under one roof and the show will set up home at Birmingham NEC for the weekend of September 24–25, 2011.
Saturday entry is priced at £12 (adults) and £4 (children, aged 5-16) and entry to the Sunday event is priced at £6 (adults) and £4 (children). Tickets are available (subject to booking & transaction fees) from www.theticketfactory.com or 0844 338 8000.
Some childhood fascinations never leave you, one of those is dolls houses and all the tiny things that go in them to make the perfect miniature home. Whether you are six or 60, creating your own small world is both enthralling and satisfying! With so many dolls house and miniature makers in the UK, and around the world, the choices are endless.
Miniatura will showcase the most varied and best quality miniaturists under one roof and there is something for everyone. You can spend as little or as much as you like, from a £2 silk cushion to over £4,000 on a highly detailed and handmade inlaid marquetry piece of furniture.
The two-day event will bring together a unique group of highly skilled exhibitors, not only from the UK but overseas as well, including Spain, Germany, Holland and Switzerland. Over 80% of the items available to buy at the show are painstakingly handmade, with some being one-offs and much sought after.
Miniatura Organiser, Andy Hopwood said: “Visitors and exhibitor numbers at our last few events haven’t shown any sign of abating. If anything, I think people turn to their hobbies during times of austerity as it offers some ‘escapism’.
“For the Autumn show we have a broad range of exhibitors offering everything for the amateur to the seasoned collector with many ‘exclusives’ available at this show only.”
