Little more than a year ago Liam Payne was an unknown teenager with a dream of becoming a popstar.
And now, along with his One Direction bandmates, the teenager is living the dream.
No longer just the boy next door from Wolverhampton, the 17-year-old is a pin-up for thousands, has spent months jetting around the world working with top producers and is now preparing to release his first hotly-anticipated single.
And, despite not turning 18 until next month, he is already enjoying the trimmings of fame – splashing out around £20,000 to buy his dad a BMW and treating his parents to a holiday in Florida.
Proud father Geoff says: “I could throw my arms in the air but I am trying to keep calm because it is the lull before the storm.
“The boys have been working so hard over the past few months.
“He has literally been back home a maximum of 30 days in the last year.”
