Wolves’ big announcement

It’s a football special in today’s best of the web. Just before lunchtime our Wolves correspondent Tim Nash revealed on Twitter that there was big news at Molineux.

Wolves announce plans to develop training ground as part of £50m project at Compton Park. #wwfcless than a minute ago via web Favorite Retweet Reply

The official Wolves Twitter account confirmed that it wasn’t news about a new player and this sent the Twittersphere into speculation overdrive.

Here were a few of our favourite suggestions:

@dwarfio: Heard it from a club source that the big wolves news at 1pm is topless barmaids in the south bank

@Newey_7: Have we signed John Barnes as our new stadium announcer?

@paulcjturner: Better not be that Alan Carr is going to be the new sponge man!

@bjcourtney: It’s probably something simple like Barca offering £30m for Craddock

@adampardon: You’re going to announce you had your phone hacked by #NotW

Of course, it turned out that the announcement was actually about the plans for a new training ground at Compton Park.

Which was a bit of a shame as we’d love to see the players walking out at Molineux to the sounds of the John Barnes rap…

Scott Carson’s Bursaspor debut

Former Albion goalkeeper made his debut for his new club Bursaspor on Sunday against Steaua Bucharest and had a Jonathan Woodgate-esque start, giving away a penalty and conceding a bizarre goal.

Lucky for Scott that it was only a friendly…
