Reader recommends – Indian restaurants
Wednesday 6th July 2011, 9:14AM BST.
Every week, we’ll be looking for your recommendations of the best places to eat, drink and enjoy yourselves across the West Midlands and Staffordshire.
This week, we asked our Twitter and Facebook followers to name the best Indian restaurants in the region and the suggestions came flying in. Here are the most popular destinations that they chose:
Aashiq’s at The Green Dragon, Upper Gornal
Known for its South Indian cuisine and popular specials, the contemporarily-designed Aashiq’s was a name that kept coming up with our readers.
On our Facebook page, Fiona Spittle said: “Amazing food, friendly service and always consistent. They occasionally put on lunch buffers for special occasions which are very well priced and have a good selection of food. I want one just writing about it!”
Kay Massey Dewar added that they have “gorgeous curries, friendly staff and it is very clean.”
Harry’s of Lye, Stourbridge
Harry’s claim to offer the finest Bangladeshi cuisine with a fusion of contemporary and traditional dishes and our readers felt that they managed it.
Glen Tug Wilson told us on Facebook that it offers “first-class food with attentive, friendly staff and it also caters for parties of up to 132 people.”
@nickiwill234 added on Twitter that it is “by far the best with great service and fab food.”
Akash Balti, West Bromwich
Offering the “finest Bangladeshi cuisine” Akash was also a popular choice with fans of our Facebook page.
Miriam Leaver and Jane Hales both agreed that the food was the best they’d ever had.
Waterfront Balti House, Brierley Hill
Situated on the Dudley Road, by the canal, this 80-seater restaurant specialises in Balti curries.
It was chosen by Michelle Garratt, who told us on Facebook that it has “fantastic service, brilliant food and always service with a smile. They go that extra mile to ensure that all is good – well recommended.”
Mother India, Wolverhampton
On the Tettenhall Road in Wolverhampton, Mother India was another popular choice.
David Perkins and Michael McConkey both agreed on Facebook that it was worth a visit.

Aroma in Albrighton is a fantastic curry house. The food is of such a high quality and the service is excellent. It’s not licensed so you get to take your own alcohol aswell. Thoroughly reccommend it!
