The Summer Play season has kicked off at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre with Busybody, a light-hearted comedy with a sinister touch.

Meddlesome cleaning lady Mrs Piper finds a dead body in the office block in which she works, but it disappears as soon as the police arrive.

She then sets about assisting in solving the crime, whether the Superintendent in charge likes it or not.

Erin Geraghty as Mrs Piper is thoroughly endearing, and former Coronation Street actress Tracy Shaw is both charming and suitably haughty as Claire Marshall.

And there is a flirtatious and amusing performance from former Hollyoaks star Gemma Bissex as cheeky typist Vicki Reynolds.

The witty script is pacey, peppered with hilarious malapropisms and shows off the simple but effective comedy at its best.

This is an excellent start to the season of four plays.

Busybody runs until Saturday.
