Ken Dodd to star at Shifnal Festival
Tuesday 28th June 2011, 3:19PM BST.
Comedy veteran Ken Dodd will appear at this year’s Shifnal Festival, it has been announced.
The comedy legend, who appears regularly in the Black Country and is known for his mammoth shows, will appear as part of the festival on September 13.
Organisers said the feather duster-wielding star was the biggest act to ever appear in the town.
Organiser Tony Stringfellow said: “I’ve been working with Ken for more than 20 years, creating stage props, masks and puppets for him. When I rang he said he’d be delighted to play at Shifnal Festival because it’s providing just the sort of intimate audience he loves performing to.
“This will be a unique opportunity to get close to one of the biggest stage stars this country has ever produced.”
Tickets will go on sale at the town’s farmers’ market on July 16.
The festival will run from September 13 to 25 and include drama demonstrations, barn dances, craft workshops and concerts.
