So it's the first week of June – surely this is the official start of the summer right!? Here's hoping for at least a couple of months of fun and frolics in the Black Country and West Midlands sunshine!

We start in Walsall tonight (Friday) and after their successful launch last week Simma once more bring the bigness to the brand new Vogue nightclub. Open until 4am and looking to rock the capacity crowds will be Rue Jay, Ill Phil and Nathan RG.

The second city of Birmingham has some great options if you're looking to get your groove on there tonight. Nuvo in Brindley Place is booking some of the main house heads in the game and this is in evidence as Jeremy Healy performs exclusively.

In the Jewellery Quarter at Vertu, Second City is a recently formed night that's looking to think outside the box and is bringing in DJs from across the globe to showcase their skills. Tonight you can expect quality, slamming Chicago house from the likes of DJ Camouflage, Kinky Movement and Jay Marks.

Looking to raise money for a great cause – The British Red Cross – is The Only Way is Birmingham at Après, Summer Row tonight. With a glam red dress theme, free cocktails, Shisha lounge and sublime music from Sacha Brooks and James Hughes it's definitely worth your support.

Then for a taste of the underground in Birmingham tonight check out Twisted Funk at the Cellar Door, Digbeth, for the very best in electro, dubstep and drum n bass.

At Gorgeous in Wolverhampton tonight they bring you Lush with guest DJ Rob Cook bringing you the best in speed garage classics and bassline alongside residents Danny Jones, Joe Campbell and Scott Roberts.

Alchemy in Wolverhampton also continues their urban sound revival right through the weekend with Urban Smash tonight featuring DJs Edd Cooke, Brett Maverick and Denver. Then on Saturday, they have OMG! where it will be bassline classics and anthems all night long with DJ EJ and Apostle.

For all you celebrity spotters and soap lovers then Pussycats in Wellington could well be for you on Saturday night. Eastenders star Scott Maslen aka Jack Branning will be wooing the ladies and whomever else boat his floats!

Bringing back the 90s house classics to Moseley on Saturday night is Resurrection at the Cross Café Bar. Ste Savage, James Weston and Claire Seville will be on hand to bring back the hey days of hands in the air handbag house!

The big one on Saturday for the whole of the midlands dance scene is the Electric Carnival 2011 in Birmingham across the Digbeth entertainment district. With 19 areas laden with top music, live acts and activity's this really is a showcase to behold! Headliners include Example, Chase & Status, Martin Solveig, Chuckie and Professor Green.

My top track this week comes from German production duo Lissat & Voltaxx who never fail to disappointment with quality grooves. Check out The Sunken Bells of Ibiza, which is their latest creation and will kick start any summer season into action.

I'm on Hed Kandi duty again this weekend as I fly off to Zante, Greece, for the launch weekend of Plus Club. If any of you are on your jollies over there be sure to drop me a line! Have a great weekend guys – see you on the other side!
