The old magic was on display at the Robin 2 in Bilston with a brilliant Christmas show performance by former Wizzard star Roy Wood.

Fans from far and wide travelled to the Bilston gig last night for the annual Christmas Show by the rock and roll legend with some supporters coming from as far as Glasgow to hear the legend belt out the classic I Wish It Could Be Christmas Everyday and other classic songs.

The 64-year-old appeared on stage in his iconic glasses and long coat and was instantly at ease and clearly still enjoys performing.

The crowds love for the music was evident and Wood surely did not disappoint with a great show featuring hits spanning his career with The Move, ELO and Wizzard.

The Birmingham-born star is a legend in The Robin 2 and his face adorns the walls in the nearby bar area and his loyal fans from across the Midlands were certainly pleased to see the legend back on the stage.

Among the loyal fans packed into the Robin 2 were Anne and David Paterson, who travelled all the way from Glasgow to see Roy Wood in a three and a half hour train journey. David, aged 49, has been a big fan of Roy Wood since he was young and followed his career ever since.

The couple who stayed in the Robin Hotel said: "He doesn't travel up to Scotland much and coming down was well worth it. We love the venue, it is so intimate you can get very close which is great."

Keith Clegg, aged 50, from Walsall Wood, was at The Robin 2 with his brother Graham, aged 53, who travelled all the way from Lyme Regis to see Roy Wood.
